Project Based Learning
Project Based Learning is an instructional approach that provides students the opportunity to not only learn content through real world problems but it allows students to develop their 21st century skills. 21st century skills are at the heart of common core instruction and take place everyday at Torch Middle School. Students learn to develop their critical thinking skills, communication, collaboration, and creativity through PBL in an effort to be prepared for college and career readiness.
Bassett Unified School District has partnered with the Buck Institute in training all of our teachers and administrators in project based learning. Our students learn how to tackle real world problems, demonstrate their voice and choice through reflective practices that produce an authentic public product. We are on the road to success at Torch!
