School Closures Extended through End of Academic School Year - 2020

Dear Bassett Unified School District Families and Staff,
Together, we are experiencing extraordinary times and I sincerely hope that you are doing well and staying healthy.
Student, staff and family safety is our number one priority. State health officials have made it clear that the safest place to be is home during the COVID-19 pandemic. With that in mind, Bassett USD campuses will remain physically closed for the remainder of the academic school year. This decision aligns with the recommendation from the California Department of Education and the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
It is essential to note that while campuses are physically closed, school is still in session and instruction will continue. We recognize that this decision comes with many challenges. Remote learning is a new experience for all of us. The Bassett USD leadership team, along with state and county teams, are working each day to identify solutions to support this new learning environment.
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge our teachers, staff, and students who are demonstrating amazing creativity and out-of-the box thinking to strengthen remote learning. Thank you also to the caregivers at home for your support.
As we move forward, we will be using this same creativity to identify virtual ways to celebrate and engage in our spring traditions of dances, promotions, and graduation. Bassett USD will work to “preserve the experience” for all of our students, especially our graduates, during this critical time of their educational journey.
Remember, it is important for each student to connect with his/her teachers and classmates daily. We need to keep our lines of communication and collaboration open.
Teachers have collaborated with grade-level partners to ensure a continuity of learning. It is imperative that students complete work assigned and engage with teachers and their classmates in this new platform of remote learning.
Additionally, meals will continue to be served at identified sites – please check the website for information. If you have any concerns, or in need of support, please call the school office.
We will remain Bassett Strong and I am proud that our community continues to come together and find creative solutions to an unprecedented time. Working together, we will rise to the challenge.
